This pattern was inspired by Miss Morland, the heroine in Jane Austen’s novel, Northanger Abbey. I sought to create a scarf that was simple enough for everyday, yet elegant enough to wear to the theatre.
Knitting skills used in this pattern: knit, purl, knit two together, and yarn over.
Finished piece measures 4.5” wide by 41.5” long. Use this size as a guideline, but feel free to adjust the pattern as you see fit.
Yarn requirements: 200 - 215 yards (183 - 197 m). Pattern shown in a handpainted superwash bluefaced leicester wool yarn.
Gauge: 25 stitches and 34 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.
Needle size: US 4 - 3.5 mm.
