Shell Point Shawlette
The Shell Point Shawlette was inspired by Sanibel Island, a unique barrier island along the gulf-coast of Florida that is known for beautiful sandy beaches and an abundance of seashells. Wear this crescent-shaped shawlette like a scarf to keep your neck warm and cozy during chilly weather any time of year.
Knitting skills used in this pattern: knit, purl, yarn over, knit four together through back loop, knit four together, short rows.
Finished piece measures 58 inches from end to end, 3 inches along each of the short edges, and 6 3⁄4 inches from top to bottom in the center. Use this size as a guideline, but feel free to adjust the pattern as you see fit.
Yarn requirements: Approximately 300 - 325 yards of fingering weight (14-16 wpi) handspun or commercial yarn. The scarf in the photograph was made using Blarney Yarn Whirl Superwash Merino in the "Jacaranda" color way.
Needle size: US 6 (4 mm) or size needed to obtain an appropriate fabric for your shawlette.
